iQlikMovies Rating: 2.5/5

Mathu Vadalara has attracted the attention of audiences in three possible ways: The film has top musician Keeravani’s son Sri Simha in the lead role. It has music by MM Keeravani’s elder son Kaala Bhairava. And Mythri Movies, which is known for bringing out big-budget films, has bankrolled this movie. That is how Mathu Vadalara has caught the high attention of media and movie lovers. But, did the film entertain as per expectations or not? – Read on…

Story:

Babu Mohan (Sri Simha) is a courier boy who works for a monthly salary of Rs 15,000. But he takes home just 4,000/- after all the deductions. Certainly, he gets frustrated with his job and decides to give it up. Then, his colleague Yesu (Satya) who works in same courier office tells how to earn huge sum doing the same job. Sharing his talent, Yesu gives him gyan about how the customers can be conned with some intelligence. Then, Babu Mohan attempts to steal money from an old lady (Pawala Syamala) for the first time. But he fails to succeed, and the old lady passes away. Fearing that he’d be locked up in jail, Babu puts himself in other troubles. Rest of the story is about how he escapes from the police case, and how an attempt to steal Rs 500 has put his life at risk.

Analysis:

Mathu Vadalara is a thrilling story and at the same time, offers great scope to showcase how life troubles when the lead actor decides to steal Rs 500. Director Ritesh Rana has handled it quite intelligently and in presenting us how courier boys cheat the customer, he displayed his talent. Also, he wonderfully captured how hero gets stuck in unwanted situations. Those scenes will arouse the curiosity for viewers. Also, the episodes following Pawala Syamala’s death will thrill you. The fun offered by Satya till the interval block and thrilling moments will balance the movie.

What exactly has happened in that flat? Who murdered her? How did hero get 50 lakhs in his bag? – are sure to intrigue the audiences. But the complexities to weave the story were not unravelled well. The comedy goes missing and graph of the film drops in the second half. Even though Satya tries to offer some comedy, it fell flat and needless twists will make the viewer frustrated. So, the story goes directionless in the second half - drug mafia and logics will make it uninterested. As a result, the film is not as attractive as first half.

Artists:

Except Satya, rest of the lead artists are fresh faces. Satya’s comedy and timing are big relief for the audiences. Debutant Sri Simha acted naturally, and Naresh Agasya also impressed with his performance. Vennela Kishore and Brahmaji will entertain us with limited scope.

Technicalities:

Keeravani’s elder son Kaala Bhairava took care of background score and it’s his first film. The film does not have any audio songs, but Kaala Bhairava’s theme-based background score will draw the attention of audiences. The expertise of photography can be seen through out the movie. The director has picked up an interesting plot to present, but he could only deal the first half with great skill. His narration will confuse us in the second half. The comedy and thrill have worked in parts.

Plus Points:

First Half

Story

Satya’s comedy

Background score

Minus Points:

Second Half

Tight twists

Final Verdict: Not a well-baked film!
